Landscaping Portfolio – Patios, Walkways and Driveways

A beautiful walkway, driveway or patio can make a wonderful first impression and can add definition to your outdoor space. There are a variety of materials to choose from and often multiple materials are used. Some of the materials available are: Concrete, Pavers, Bricks, Tile, Slate and Flagstone.

Types of Patios, Walkways & Driveways Landscaping

Concrete

Concrete is a durable material that can endure extreme weather conditions as well as heavy foot traffic. It is a versatile material that can be crafted into many different styles, shapes and colors. Concrete is easy to maintain and is often the most cost effective.

Poured-in-Place Concrete

Poured-in-place concrete walls are a good alternative for areas that have limited access for transporting materials.

Pavers/Brick

Precast interlocking pavers are affordable, versatile and extremely durable. They are maintenance free and come in a variety of styles and colors. They can either stand alone or sit on a sand or gravel base and do not require mortar, which allows them to be moved when there is necessary underground maintenance and put right back into place. Red brick is a time-honored material for paving and is desired for its color. Intricate patterns can be created and bricks are laid by hand and mortared in place.

Decking

Outdoor decks can benefit and improve the value of your home. A deck can transform your backyard into an outdoor retreat and multifunctional living space that can be enjoyed year-round. There are multiple materials can be used to create the deck of your dreams: Redwood, Tropical Hardwood such as Ipe, and composite materials such as Trex.

Tile/Slate

Tile and Slate are timeless choices and some of the oldest materials used in outdoor spaces. The versatility, endless variety, durability and more formal appearances are a few reasons why Tile and Slate are so popular in many of today’s landscape projects.

Flagstone

Flagstone is one of the best materials for many landscape projects, and primarily for patios as it allows water to permeate instead of running off. Flagstone patios have a very natural, organic look due to their shape and earthy shades of browns, reds, grays and blues. Flagstone provides a durable and naturally slip-resistant surface that will last for years. It is very common to plant moss, grass or groundcover between the stones.

Decomposed Granite  (D.G.)

Decomposed Granite is an inexpensive alternative to other hardscape surfaces and has an informal look. It can also be a temporary solution until other more permanent surfaces can be installed. Decomposed Granite is a permeable surface that allows rainwater to percolate into the ground.
